The Prince of Wales bears the arms of the sovereign differenced by a label of three points argent on the shield, crest, and supporters. His crown is similar to that of the Queen but without the arch from front to back. On his shield of arms he bears the arms of the Principality on an inescutcheon ensigned by his crown.

The first English Prince of Wales (created in 1301) was Edward, son of Edward I and Queen Eleanor. Subsequently, most (but not all) heirs apparent to the English throne have been created Prince of Wales.
